Job Location: 

The Space - Orange High School

Job Responsibilities:

The school-based Clinician at the "The Space," is responsible for providing culturally competent, trauma-informed individual, group and family therapeutic services to students and families. The Clinician provides crisis intervention services, collaborates with other providers and school staff as needed. This Clinician is responsible for participating in relevant community meetings and/or groups, attend supervision consistently, weekly team meetings, monthly case conferences and quality improvement sub-committee meetings. The Clinician should have experience working within a school setting. The Clinician should be a culturally competent individual who will work in alignment with the Family Connection' mission.  This is a 12 month position, Monday-Friday.

  • Works collaboratively with school staff, community partners, and caregivers to manage counseling referrals
  • Provide culturally competent, trauma-informed individual, group, and family therapeutic services to students and families
  • Advocates, coordinates, and maintains on-going contact with other providers involved
  • Provide crisis intervention services
  • Utilize the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale when screening individuals for suicidal ideation
  • Attend school re-entry meetings after a student has been sent out for an emergency screening as schedule allows
  • Plans and co-facilitates monthly Parent/Caregiver Support Group (evening group)
  • Assist Team in providing prevention programming to students throughout the school year
  • Completes documentation as per agency and program guidelines in Netsmart and MIS
  • Attend agency, school, and local committee meetings
  • Demonstrates the ability to utilize appropriate interventions in both non-crisis and crisis situations
  • Supervises after school recreation, activities, and trips as needed
  • Assist Team in planning for and supervising Summer Program
  • Assist Team in annual QI Project
  • Consults with clinical and program supervisor regarding termination prior to discharge
  • Completes termination paperwork and appropriate discharge planning in a timely fashion
  • Tolerates a range of feelings, affect, and personal presentation without judgment

Qualifications:

Education: Master's in Social Work or equivalent field

Certification: LSW, LPC or state licensure specific to degree.

Experience: Providing mental health services with diverse populations in an urban setting.

Preferred: Experience working with adolescents in a high school setting.

Work Environment/Physical Demands: The individual must possess the ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, and lifting of up to or in excess of 50 pounds.
